Job Dimensions Major LNG development project with a total investment value exceeding $20 billion. Onshore facilities include 2 LNG trains (13 mtpa total), LNG and condensate storage, marine offloading and loading facilities, utilities, and extensive early site infrastructure. Onshore EPC contract value approximately $9 billion, including ~ $4 billion in construction. Site manpower is expected to peak at approximately 15,000 personnel. The Power Generation Area Manager leads the centralized power generation system for the LNG plant, with an installed capacity of roughly 300 MW ISO. Position includes management of a team of superintendents and supervisors. Activities Promote and demonstrate strong safety leadership, ensuring full compliance with all relevant HSE requirements and fostering a robust safety culture within Client and EPC Contractor teams. Ensure the team consistently meets performance expectations and corporate standards. Foster teamwork, encourage professional development, and build a cohesive team environment. Promptly report or escalate all safety, quality, or operational incidents. Oversee installation readiness for the 300 MW power generation system, ensuring infrastructure is built and integrated per project specifications and international standards. Monitor and coordinate all construction activities in the area, ensuring alignment with project procedures and timely handover to Commissioning. Build strong relationships with the EPC Contractor to manage routine execution and critical issues. Support development and review of execution plans, method statements, risk assessments, and related procedures to ensure safe, high?quality, and timely construction. Maintain regular presence in the field to demonstrate safety commitment and maintain close oversight of execution teams. Review and analyse construction progress, identify schedule risks, and propose mitigation actions. Contribute to overall site coordination and management. Identify risks and issues, propose solutions, and apply lessons learned and best practices. Support pre?commissioning execution and transition into commissioning, including SIMOPS phases. Participate in project peer reviews and technical assurance activities. Monitor and assess EPC Contractor construction management processes and propose improvements. Lead or attend construction planning meetings to ensure issue resolution and progress tracking. Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of QA/QC processes specific to power generation and distribution systems. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely material and equipment deliveries. Ensure all work complies with local regulatory requirements, standards, and permitting conditions relevant to power generation. Manage interfaces between power generation, distribution networks, and other project disciplines. Context and Environment The project entity is a multinational joint venture with significant social performance obligations and is financed by high?profile international lenders. Site location is extremely remote with limited infrastructure and communication networks. Operations must account for health and security risks, including malaria, ongoing regional security concerns, and other environmental constraints. Role is rotational. Accountabilities Ensure safe delivery of onshore facilities during construction and successful handover to Operations, within the approved cost and schedule. Coordinate with other departments to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of a fit?for?purpose facility. Ensure compliance with all environmental, regulatory, safety, and performance standards relevant to large?scale power generation. Qualifications / Experience Required Degree in Engineering or similar discipline; advanced degree or professional accreditation preferred. Minimum 25 years of experience in oil & gas, energy, or power generation. At least 15 years of direct experience in power generation and distribution systems within major EPC projects. Strong knowledge of HSE standards, international codes, and industry best practices. Demonstrated experience in construction, commissioning, and handover of large?scale power generation facilities of comparable capacity. Solid understanding of key success factors for complex megaprojects, including safety, environment, cost, schedule, quality, and organizational competence. Experience working in Africa or similarly challenging environments is highly desirable. Strong safety leadership, communication, and decision?making abilities. Excellent English communication skills; Portuguese or French an advantage.
