Essential Job Functions A Power Equipment Technician is responsible for performing a combination of the following essential job functions: + Repairs passenger cars, light, medium and heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment as well as a variety of non-automotive power equipment. + Diagnoses defects and overhauls major automotive components such as gasoline, alternative fuel vehicles, hybrids, and diesel engines, clutches, transmissions, brakes, front and rear axles, fuel, cooling and electrical systems. + Replaces or repairs worn or broken parts of equipment and installs accessories. + Road tests various types of automotive, light medium and heavy-duty trucks, and construction equipment. + Uses computers to access equipment information and store work records. + Inspects automotive equipment to determine cause of malfunction. + Performs preventive maintenance services and inspections on equipment and makes recommendations for vehicle repairs. + Supervises helpers as assigned.
