About the Role
At Trane Technologies, we challenge what’s possible for a sustainable world. As a Power Electronics Intern working in the Advanced Concepts and Capabilities corporate R&D team, you will support the design, testing, and validation of power electronic systems that enable high‑efficiency, low‑emission HVAC and refrigeration solutions. You will work alongside experienced engineers to help develop innovative, reliable, and energy‑efficient products used across our global portfolio.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and simulation of power electronic circuits, including inverters, converters, and motor control systems.

Support hardware testing in the lab using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment.

Analyze test data and document results to support design decisions and product improvements.

Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams on component selection, prototyping, and system integration.

Help develop and refine control algorithms for power electronic applications.

Contribute to design reviews, engineering documentation, and continuous improvement activities.

Follow established safety and quality procedures in laboratory and project environments.

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.

Fundamental understanding of power electronics, electrical machines, or control systems.

Experience with circuit simulation tools (such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or PLECS) is preferred.

Familiarity with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, data acquisition tools and possess basic troubleshooting techniques.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Effective communication and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Curiosity and a passion for sustainable, high‑impact engineering solutions.
