STS Technical Services is hiring a Power Electronics Engineer in Westminster, Colorado.
Position SummaryOur client is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join their manufacturing team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end design of power converters and power management circuits, from concept and architecture definition through schematic design, PCB layout, testing, qualification, and production support.
The ideal candidate will bring experience with board-level analog and power electronics, advanced modeling and simulation, and high-reliability design practices for industries such as automotive, space, or defense. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help shape next-generation power solutions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Own end-to-end design of power converters and power management/control circuits from concept through production support Perform detailed schematic design for low- to high-complexity power electronics, from single converters to multi-output supply modules Execute PCB layout in Altium Designer independently or with a PCB Drafter Perform modeling and analysis of analog and power designs, including worst-case analysis, stress analysis, stability, power loss optimization, and efficiency analysis Develop design verification test plans, requirement compliance matrices, integration and qualification test plans, and production acceptance test plans Conduct bring-up and verification testing of circuits and modules, often with technicians or junior engineers Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to lead system integration and qualification campaigns Release analog and power electronics designs to production Mentor junior engineers to build technical depth and professional skills Research new power electronics technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and intellectual property generation Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university Minimum of 6 years of industry or university research experience in board-level power electronics design, analysis, and test Proven experience owning design phases of power subsystems, including architecture definition, trade studies, component selection, and detailed design Experience with PCB layout for analog and power electronics Proficiency with tools such as SPICE, LTSPICE, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, PLECS, Simulink, MATLAB, or MathCAD Strong laboratory testing and troubleshooting experience for prototyping and design verification Experience designing high-reliability electronics for automotive, space, or defense applications, including part derating, worst-case analysis, and thermal constraints Excellent written and verbal communication skills About STS Technical ServicesSTS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that partners with some of the largest names in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and industrial industries.
