HDR is seeking a highly motivated Electrical EIT/Designer for our power generation electrical and controls group. This individual will be a key member of HDR’s rapidly growing engineering team and will work under senior engineers to support the following:
Prepare detailed design packages for new and modifications to existing power generation facilities (Hydro, Solar, Coal, Simple Cycle, and Combined Cycle)Detailed design packages can include relay protection upgrades, plant control system upgrades, excitation, governor, and power system upgradesWork on projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variablesEngineering calculation reports such as load flow, short circuit, grounding and arc flash studiesMajor plant equipment specifications such as generators, oil-filled and dry-type transformers, medium and low voltage motors, switchgear and motor control centers, PLC and DCS control systemsPerform cable, raceway and equipment sizing calculations Cable and conduit schedules and routing drawingsDevelop Input and Output (I/O) List and interface with the plant control systemBe involved in design engineering projects from kickoff to project close-out and as-built drawing preparation.Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and proceduresWork independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers / professionals on larger projectsWork with assistance from Project Engineers, other Engineers In-Training (EITs), Designers, or CAD Specialists as neededPreferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progressionMaster’s degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an Electrical emphasisPrevious experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firmDesire/interest in the electrical generation and renewable energy sectorsStrong communication, leadership, planning skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.Previous internship beneficialStrong computer skills Ability and desire to learn AutoCAD and MicroStationETAP program experiencePVsyst program experiencePreference given to local candidatesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in EngineeringComputer skills in Microsoft OfficeAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned cultureWhat We Believe
