Power and Utilities Supervisor
Summary The Powerhouse Supervisor will provide support and oversee to technicians performing a variety of task including but not limited to corrective maintenance (CM), preventative maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PDM). Operates, installs, and repairs plant utilities including ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, steam, water, gas, compressed air, and building systems. Typical work schedule includes minimum of 9 hours each work day with additional time required for coverage of shift or completion of projects as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Provide support to Refrigeration Techs by assisting in their duties and providing technical advice as needed. Interface with contractors to ensure proper completion of jobs. Assist Planner in sourcing repair and project parts as needed. Provide leadership toward the completion of major repairs and projects. Cover rounds as needed to ensure plant’s continued operation. Participates in technical discussion regarding troubleshooting and continual improvements. Assist Planner in PM program improvements and implementation. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems as part of the Process Safety Management system and safety policies and procedures. Maintain KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) to drive continuous improvement. Ensure USDA regulatory compliance, HACCP, PSM, RMP, GMP, and SQF program quality, and safety. Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process including but not limited to: PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tag out procedures, Line Break procedures, Hot Work procedures, and Process Safety Management related matters. Education and/or Experience Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school in mechanical and/or electrical field preferred or equivalent related experience. 2 years experience as an industrial refrigeration/boiler operator or more preferred. Prior experience with 3 phase 480VAC systems, troubleshooting controls, work with PLCs and VFDs preferred. RETA certificate strongly preferred. Prior industrial maintenance experience strongly preferred. Currently holds, or is able to obtain within 6 months of beginning employment in the lead position, Ammonia Refrigeration Operator credentials. Strong communication skills. Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, etc. Word Processing software and Process Safety Management (PSM) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Database software. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, schematics, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and external customers. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
