Under the direction of the Postsecondary Readiness and Youth Workforce Managers, the Postsecondary Pathways Advisor plays a vital role in advancing student success across Klickitat County by delivering Youth Employment Services (YES) in all eight high schools and providing dedicated College and Career Readiness (CCRA) advising at Wishram. This position supports equitable access to postsecondary advising, planning, career exploration, and work-based learning experiences aligned with each school’s unique needs and the region’s workforce opportunities.
Salary:
The full compensation range for this position is $56,524.38 - $68,773.88. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. Effective September 1, 2025, the new compensation range will be $57,945.17 - $70,501.87.
Assignment:
This position will be full-time and work 240 days per year. The person in this role is a vital member of the College and Career Pathways department. The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of students, parents, and stakeholders through instruction or public presentation. The candidate will provide direct service in both classroom and individualized settings, delivering a variety of curriculum. They should demonstrate empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for helping students achieve their full potential and experience working with rural and remote communities.

Essential Functions/Other Functions
Essential Functions:
Coordinate and implement Pre-Employment and Transition Services programming, including career exploration, work readiness training, employer engagement, and experiential learning opportunities such as job shadows and internships for students that receive specialized student services. Develop relationships with students and school staff to encourage program enrollment; recruit and educate local employers and community partners to support student-centered career-connected learning. Facilitate student workshops and events aligned to Washington’s High School and Beyond Plan and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Track and report student participation and outcomes in accordance with grant or program guidelines; monitor students work-based learning experiences and pre-employment transition services. Provide individualized and group advising to middle and high school students on college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, dual credit, career pathways, and postsecondary planning. Collaborate with school leadership and counseling staff to align advising efforts with schoolwide goals and the goals of the Regional Advising Partnership. Support students and families in navigating options including 2- and 4-year colleges, apprenticeships, technical programs, and employment. Collaborate with eight other College & Career Readiness Advisors and higher education Navigators weekly, in person and remotely. Maintain records of advising sessions, plans; track and record student outcomes. Other Functions: Represent the ESD and Klickitat YES/CCR programs at school and community events. Participate in regional and state-level trainings, meetings, and initiatives as assigned. Support the development and dissemination of resources that promote college and career readiness. Other duties as assigned.Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field OR High School Diploma and three years of direct student service and relevant experience. Experience working with high school youth in education, workforce development, or career advising, preferably with special education students. Familiarity with a variety of postsecondary options, financial aid literacy, career pathways and career development strategies. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, counseling or related field. Previous experience in project management and data entry, preferably in an educational setting. Experience working with diverse, rural populations. Experience teaching and delivering curriculum in a classroom setting.Working Conditions/Employment Requirements
Working Conditions:
Frequent travel across the ESD 112 service region and the state. This is a hybrid position with 80% of time spent in assigned high schools.Employment Requirements: Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
