We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Immunocompetent Brain Organoids who is collaborative and analytical to join our In Vitro Pharmacology Department, based at our campus in Braine L’Alleud, Belgium

 

About the role

Your work will span the development and implementation of complex in vitro models, including CNS and PNS organoid technologies, to support pipeline projects and target identification/validation studies. You will contribute to breakthrough research in a vibrant drug discovery environment, inspired by patients and driven by science.

 

You will apply technical problem-solving skills and contribute to scientific discussions. These activities will require you to build relationships and work collaboratively with members of the team.

 

Who you’ll work with

You will be part of the human translational cell sciences team, responsible for implementing neural cell types from iPSC in 2D and 3D cultures and related read-outs: imaging, functional and transcriptomics. You will collaborate with colleagues in the Neuroscience therapeutic area and engage in international collaborations.

 

What you’ll do

● Characterize CNS and/or PNS immune competent organoids for pain research and related research areas.

● Undertake assigned activities following instructions or documented procedures carefully.

● Generate accurate and reliable data within the required timeframes.

● Compile collected data for inclusion in technical reports or publications.

● Maintain high standards in record keeping and documentation practices consistently.

● Report scientific findings to the team through presentations and informal discussions.

● Keep up-to-date with relevant scientific literature and proactively search for new methodologies.

 

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

● PhD degree in cell biology, neuroscience, or a closely related field.

● Expertise in neural cell differentiation from iPSC in 2D/3D cultures.

● Experience developing 3D cell assays and organoid models using iPSC.

● Skilled in viral vector transductions of neural and iPSC-derived cells.

● Pharmacology experience with small molecules for functional assays.

● Experience developing cell-based assays: flow cytometry, ELISA, MEA, imaging.

● Skilled in molecular biology: plasmid design, qPCR, RNAseq, CRISPR, transcriptomics.
