Position Information The post-doctoral research associate conducts research, mentors students, and publishes research findings as part of the research portfolio of the Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture (IHA). The IHA aims to improve human health by leading science-driven solutions in agriculture, nutrition and food systems in a way that supports economic prosperity, environmental sustainability and community well-being. The post-doctoral research associate focuses on investigating protein anabolic resistance following premature birth, using a preterm piglet model. Responsibilities: + In consultation with the PI, designs and executes experiments. + Performs statistical analysis of research experiments and results. + Supervises and provides training to junior- and mid-level technical support staff, graduate students, and/or undergraduate students. + Leads the writing of research-based publications. + Follows appropriate laboratory safety procedures for handling, disposing of and keeping inventory of hazardous chemicals. + Assists in coordinating lab inventory and equipment as directed. + Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: + Ability to work independently. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Desire and ability to work collaboratively and help maintain a supportive environment for all team members. + Highly organized and detail oriented. + Professional demeanor. + Ability to multi-task and establish effective working relationships. Other Requirements: + Ability to lift or move light, moderate, and heavy objects. Ability to exert light force. + Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends as needed.
