MD Anderson Cancer Center
A postdoctoral fellow position is available under the supervision of Professor Sang Cho at Department of Radiation Physics, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC), Houston, Texas, USA.
The appointed postdoctoral fellow will work on an NIH-funded project to investigate gold nanoparticle (GNP) applications for radiation therapy.
Emphasis will be given to AI/machine learning-based analysis of GNP- laden cell/tissue images and biological outcome modeling of GNP- enhanced radiation therapy using computational/Monte Carlo tools.
This position is renewable annually upon satisfactory performance and will be available until a suitable candidate is found. The pay scale follows the current MDACC postdoc salary standard.
All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
*LEARNING OBJECTIVES*
• Conduct research on gold nanoparticle (GNP) applications in radiation therapy as part of an NIH-funded project.
• Apply AI and machine learning techniques to analyze GNP-laden cell and tissue images.
• Develop and refine biological outcome models of GNP-enhanced radiation therapy.
• Utilize computational and Monte Carlo simulation tools to study radiation interactions with GNPs.
• Integrate experimental findings with computational analyses to advance understanding of GNP-mediated therapeutic effects.
*ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS*
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in physics, medical physics, engineering, or other related disciplines. Experience in Monte Carlo modeling with the Geant4 toolkit or similar code systems is highly desired. Computer programming skill in C++ and/or Python is required. Experience in machine learning platform (e.g., TensorFlow) and/or wet lab work (cell/animal imaging, clonogenic assay, etc.) is a plus.
