Details of Research Project:
**This is a full-time position to conduct research in a behavioral and molecular translational neuroscience laboratory with experimental studies related to the impact of adolescent cannabis exposure on adult substance use disorder/cannabis use disorder vulnerability. This work focuses on the role non-neuronal cell-types including astrocytes play in the development of cannabis induced phenotypes.**
**Qualifications**
**Educational and other Requirements for the position: PhD in science or related field**
**Experience Required: Completed a PhD in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, or related field**
**Have experience or expertise using advanced molecular biology and imaging techniques**
**Have experience or expertise with longitudinal rodent developmental studies**
**Have foundational statistical analysis expertise**
**Have prepared and published original research**
**Organizational, problem solving and analytical skills**
**Appropriate verbal, written and interpersonal skills**
**Motivated and takes initiative on performing required research tasks**
**Good communication and teamwork skills**
**Basic MS Office Knowledge**
**Fundamental coding knowledge in R or Python**
**Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project: To delineate the role astrocytes and non-neuronal cell-types play in the development and maintenance of behavioral cannabis-induced addictive phenotypes.**
**Responsibilities**
Technical Duties: (include any protocols)
The postdoc will be responsible for carrying out rodent behavioral assays including but not limited to operant cognitive tasks, social interaction, open field, sucrose preference test, and drug administration paradigms under moderate supervision. The postdoc will also work with advanced molecular and biochemical assays on postmortem tissue from animal models, working with techniques such as RNA isolation and purification, cDNA preparation, quantitative PCR, western blot and immunohistochemistry, next generation sequencing, and bioinformatics.
Organizing and analyzing data as well as making figures using, e.g., Microsoft computer programs, GraphPad Prism, JASP statistical software. Bioinformatics analysis will be completed using the high performance cluster and standard pipelines in RStudio and Python.

**Compensation Statement**
Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $72500 - $80000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
