Postdoctoral Fellow-MSH-13050-220
Mount Sinai Health System
**Job Description**
Postdoc positions—studying vascular tauopathy
The E-LAB, directed by the physician-scientist, Fanny Elahi, is looking for a highly motivated, creative, and enthusiastic scientist with a record of productivity and prior experience in molecular biology and work with human brain biospecimen to join the lab and take lead on a project that investigates vascular contributions to tauopathy.
ABOUT THE LAB
The E-LAB is based at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Our goal is to discover therapeutically relevant links between vascular pathologies and tauopathy. Our research is multidisciplinary, rooted in known genetic risk factors for adverse brain aging and degeneration, e.g.: _NOTCH3_ mutations and _APOE_ risk alleles. We use multi-modal _in vivo_ biomarker approaches for initial discovery of molecular abnormalities that we follow with mechanistic studies in model systems (iPSC and _in vivo_ ).
**Qualifications**
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree with experience in molecular biology / neuroscience, neurogenetics, stem cell biology, or related field is preferred
+ Experience with human neuropathology
+ Experience with molecular biology techniques and/or computational approaches
+ Data analytic skills and working knowledge of biostatistics; computational biology is a plus
+ Prior experience working with iPSC and omics approaches is a plus
**HOW TO APPLY**
Please send your CV, cover letter, and the contact information for three references to the E-LAB PI, Fanny Elahi, MD, PhD: fanny.elahi@mssm.edu and copy: elahilab15@gmail.com
**Responsibilities**
**ABOUT THE POSITION**
The project will involve the identification of molecular and cellular pathologies linking vascular pathologies to tauopathy using patient samples (brain tissue, biofluids and cellular models). The scholar will also have the opportunity to participate in several highly impactful collaborative scientific projects and utilize cutting-edge technology to look at fascinating patient populations.
Responsibilities will include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, preparation and presention of research findings at meetings, leading or contributing to the writing of scientific manuscripts, mentoring and training students (optional), applying for fellowships (optional) and other research funding. The department also has a postdoctoral fellow training program focused on mentorship, networking, and recognition. We are seeking a minimum of 2 years of commitment, with the option to extend to additional years.
