Position Description
We seek a recently completed Ph.D. in the fields of developmental and/or regenerative neurobiology, neuronal cell biology, and/or nervous system disease involving the cerebral cortex to join an ongoing research program focusing on the developmental, degenerative, and regenerative biology of the cerebral cortex, employing both mice as a genetic model and limited work with human iPSC-derived cortical like neurons. We are particularly interested for this position in projects involving subcellular soma, growth cone, and synapse biology potentially underlying ALS , and in subcellular growth cone biology in activated regeneration after spinal cord injury in mice.. This position offers full funding for a two-year period for work within the scope of recent publications from the laboratory as defined by our series of recent publications and bioRxiv preprints. Salary is in the range of $67,600 per year, depending on whether a recently defended graduate or already with 1 year of postdoc experience in the Ph.D. lab. The position offers full Harvard benefits.
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. or M.D-Ph.D. (or equivalent) scientists with a strong relevant background. The Postdoctoral Fellow should have working knowledge of in vivo mouse molecular-genetic approaches, mouse cortical immunocytochemical analyses, circuit concepts, transcriptomic (and potentially proteomic) bioinformatics, small input RNA -seq, and high-level imaging, as well as research background in related studies. Junior applicants, such as recent Ph.D. graduates with 0 or 1 years of postdoctoral experience are preferred.
Additional Qualifications
Experience drafting, editing, submitting, revising, and publishing in high-tier to top-tier journals, including preparation and conceptualization of top level figures, schematics, and presentation slides.
