POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), has a postdoctoral position available to support lifecycle assessments (LCA) and techno-economic analyses (TEA) of diverse technologies and approaches relevant for the energy transition. The project will include originating new TEA/LCA analyses on topics such as geologic hydrogen, methane pyrolysis, and carbon capture and may also incorporate a special focus on harmonizing TEA and LCA approaches across sectors and between different research groups and on evaluating the technical, economic, and policy aspects of biofuels and e-fuels. In addition to conducting technical work and meeting at regular intervals with MITEI Research Scientists and other staff, the postdoctoral associates will be expected to present research at professional meetings, MITEI workshops, and sponsor meetings; prepare progress reports for sponsors; publish papers in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences; participate in meetings organized by MITEI and MITEI’s Future Energy Systems Center, including interacting with member companies; and possibly assist with preparation of proposals for future funding.
