As a Post Room Porter at HMRC Manchester M3 5AX. You will be delivering the highest standards of customer service while providing an efficient, professional mail service to our Clients and on-site Contractors. Duties include sorting and delivering incoming mail, franking outgoing mail, organising stationery deliveries (involving manual handling), and carrying out general cleaning tasks.
Additionally, you will support the Sodexo team and HMRC personnel by undertaking cleaning, catering, receptionist, and other general support duties across HMRC Manchester RC or other controlled areas, as required.
What you’ll do:
Provide a professional mail service, including sorting, distributing, and franking mail, in line with Service Level Agreements.
Support catering operations when required, including restocking refreshment areas and assisting in the café shop.
Operate tills, including cash handling and cashing up, following training.
Follow Profit Protection and security procedures at all times.
Report maintenance issues, equipment faults, hazards, or risks immediately.
Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely, in accordance with training and COSHH guidelines.
Ensure correct use of safety signage (e.g., wet floor signs).
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and wear a clean, ironed uniform and PPE as provided.
Participate in mandatory training covering Health & Safety, Food Safety, Manual Handling, COSHH, and cleaning methods.
Respond to customer queries and complaints professionally, escalating to the Front of House Manager when necessary.
Assist with furniture movement, meeting room set-ups, and ad hoc tasks as required.
Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and on time.
Demonstrate flexibility to cover additional hours for sickness or holiday cover.
Engage in team meetings, contributing ideas to enhance services.
