**Job Description:**
The Population Analytics & Insights team, a part of Data Science and Digital Health at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, is recruiting a Postdoctoral scientist to support the scientific activities in neuroscience projects. The primary location for this position is Spring House, PA, USA.
Our team develops innovative solutions using a variety of data sources across multiple different disease areas. We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven postdoctoral researcher who will work on analyzing large-scale Omics data to strengthen our research capacity in disentangling the molecular drivers of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders aimed at pushing the boundaries of AI-powered data-driven drug discovery using cutting-edge computational and algorithmic tools.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
The postdoctoral fellow will be primarily responsible for leveraging our vast omics resources coupled with state-of-the-art ML and computational models with the following main contexts: (a) Proteome-wide multi-task learning for target and biomarker discovery in brain diseases; (b) precision stratification of patients and characterize subtype-specific genomic manifestations; (3) novel target identification using integrative approaches in bipolar disorder.
The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with a team of scientists in disease genetics, computational genomics, AI and machine learning, and neuroscience therapeutic area to design and implement computational pipelines, analyze and interpret the results, and communicate the findings through internal presentations, conferences and scientific publications. The postdoc researcher will also have opportunities to collaborate with other researchers and institutions on related projects:
· Conceive, develop, and implement analytical solutions to high-priority scientific projects.
· Continuous engagement and participation with scientists across Janssen to foster scientific collaborations and building a carrier network.
· Analyze the large-scale genetics, proteomics, and other omics data modalities using the advances statistical and computational methods.
· Publish findings in top-tier journals and conferences.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Machine Learning, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields, with experience of working with large-scale genetics data e.g. SNP array, WES/WGS and multi-omics data e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics etc.:
· Ph.D. in quantitative fields – Computer Science, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, or related fields.
· Strong publication record in the relevant areas.
· Prior experience with machine learning models, e.g. multi-task learning, (un)supervised clustering, applied to biological problems is required.
· Proficient in programming languages such as R/Python, bash, SQL, etc. and familiarity with high performance computing platforms.
· Experience with multi-omics data integration, especially network analysis.
· Experience/knowledge of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases is a plus.
· Experience with bulk/single-cell transcriptomics, high-throughput proteomics is preferred.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate technical findings with stakeholders.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
