Position Overview

The Technology Portfolio Manager in Global Operations Technology leads the activities to ensure the effective use of business technology within the organization. They offer a blend of business knowledge, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the data that surrounds and drives business processes, allowing them to play a leadership role in bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that any changes to the systems are both technically sound and aligned with the business's evolving needs. This person will be a subject matter expert (SME) in the people, processes, technology, and data utilized throughout the Planning and Sourcing organizations to support procuring products for resell as well as procuring raw materials and other items needed to support operations. This includes demand management, replenishment planning, distribution requirements planning, purchase order creation, procurement, sourcing, and global trade management.

This role is responsible for leading the execution of major technology initiatives, including developing the path forward, developing timelines, change management, communication, and organization of team members. The person in this role is responsible for keeping all stakeholders engaged and excited about the ongoing work to improve Shaw’s supply chain planning and sourcing technology environment and must maintain a shared vision for the future among all stakeholders.

This position requires building strategic relationships across Shaw’s business and technology functions as well as with Shaw’s technology suppliers. To be successful in this role, the candidate must exhibit strong communications skills and an ability to exert strategic influence across a wide range of stakeholders in Shaw’s business areas, Shaw’s IT group and with Shaw’s technology suppliers.

The person in this role must be able to understand technical descriptions of software features and how those features relate to specific supply chain planning and sourcing functions. Experience with commercial off-the-shelf supply chain management software, particularly OMP, PeopleSoft, Bamboo Rose, and/or Oracle Fusion, is a plus. The person in this role must be able to understand how other enterprise technologies, such as master data management, manufacturing, logistics, and customer order management systems, relate and ideally integrate with supply chain planning and sourcing software in a modern supply chain management environment.

This position requires a lifelong learner attitude with a keen interest in both technology and supply chain planning, sourcing, and management techniques and practices. It also requires an ability to drive process improvement through the development and deployment of advanced technologies and an ability to understand and communicate those technologies and business processes to a wide audience across Shaw’s business and technology support areas. Supply Chain Management education and/or professional background is a plus. CPIM or CSCP certification is not required but is a great indicator of Supply Chain Management knowledge. Technology project management experience and/or certifications like PMP are also a plus. On-the-job training opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

Serve as a business process and subject matter expert (SME) on technology used across Planning and Sourcing. This requires developing and maintaining in-depth business acumen and regular engagement with business users, IT, and technology providers.

Identify process gaps, determine business opportunities, and advocate for solutions where the greatest business opportunities exist.

Understand the data that feeds the planning and sourcing applications and how it is mastered; be able to troubleshoot and engage with the data stewards and data owners.

Have a detailed understanding of Shaw’s enterprise technology environment and how Shaw’s technologies employed across the supply chain are interrelated.

Maintain knowledge of the full capabilities of and enhancements to Shaw’s chosen technologies provided by technology suppliers, including capabilities beyond current implementations at Shaw.

Maintain strategic partnerships with Corporate Planning, Global Sourcing, Global Logistics, IT, other Shaw business areas, and Shaw technology suppliers/consultants.

Lead the execution of key initiatives on Shaw’s Planning & Sourcing Technology Roadmap, ensuring those initiatives are executed on time, in full, and within budget.

Obtain and maintain technology initiative buy-in, consensus, and an ongoing shared vision among all stakeholders.

Define and manage project plans, which includes determining phases, milestones, change management, development, testing, training, and implementation timelines.

Holding project team members accountable to meet defined target dates.

Present project status updates to appropriate levels of management (project teams, senior management, and executives).

Manage technology project costs, approve payments, and manage project capitalization.

Able to lead technology build vs. buy discussions and decisions with appropriate cost, benefit, and risk assessments.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years demonstrated leadership experience in relevant supply chain area or in technology project management OR high school diploma and 5+ years demonstrated leadership experience in relevant supply chain area or in technology project management.

An ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization, from executive leadership to administrative associates and software development teams.

Existing knowledge of a key supply chain discipline like planning, sourcing, global trade management, procurement, and/or a proven ability and willingness to develop needed business acumen quickly.

Existing knowledge of supply chain planning technology and/or a proven ability and willingness to develop that knowledge quickly.

Existing knowledge of global sourcing, procurement, and global trade management technology and/or a proven ability and willingness to develop that knowledge quickly.

An ability to understand highly technical content and evaluate it for business process impact and overall business value.

Proficient in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries to retrieve and analyze data from backend tables. Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues by querying databases to determine root causes and providing data-driven insights for resolution.

Proven strong organizational and time management skills.

Proven ability to prioritize multiple needs and develop a plan for meeting those needs through the most effective means possible.

Ability to identify conflict and provide collaborative leadership to harness conflict to promote the best business outcomes.

Proven ability to create written and deliver verbal communication at all levels of the organization in a compelling manner.

Comfortable leading in a group setting and able to present to large and small groups at all levels of the company, including executive leadership.

An ability to lead cross-functional teams to successful business outcomes.

An ability to focus on business results and lead stakeholders across the organization to understand the expected business results of the technology vision and work toward those results.

An ability to effectively manage costs and business relationships with outside technology providers.

An ability to work effectively in a remote/home office environment with technology supplied by the company or, alternatively, work full time in an office in the Dalton, GA area.

An ability and willingness to travel to the Dalton, GA area when needed to attend in-person events. It is common to be onsite regularly, sometimes across consecutive days or weeks, and sometimes non-consecutively.

An ability to communicate and work effectively through remote meetings conducted on Microsoft Teams that may include some remote participants and some participants in a conference room.

An ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed in support of Shaw’s global operations across the U.S., Canada, China, Scotland, Australia, Belgium, and other areas of the world.

Preferred Skills

Experience in demand planning, replenishment planning, procurement, sourcing, or international logistics is a plus.

Professional planning and/or supply chain certifications are a plus, including but not limited to, Certification in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent Supply Chain Management education and/or experience.

Experience with OMP or Oracle Fusion (Shaw’s chosen planning software) and/or similar supply chain planning software is a plus.

Experience with Oracle Fusion (Shaw’s chosen procurement software) and/or similar procurement software is a plus.

Experience with Bamboo Rose or Oracle Fusion (Shaw’s chosen global trade management software) and/or similar global trade management software is a plus.

Experience with Business Intelligence and analytics, particularly identification of analytic needs and verification of analytic designs is a plus.

Experience in pulling data from disparate data sources and doing detailed analysis.

Experience and/or certifications (ie PMP) in technical project management techniques is a plus.
