Portfolio Administrator, Private Assets
The Portfolio Administrator, Private Assets supports the Accounting function for private and pooled investment funds. This role is primarily back‑office and is well suited for candidates with a strong accounting foundation and hands‑on experience in private equity, private debt, venture capital, or alternative investments.
The position provides exposure to investment operations, fund administration, and audit processes, making it ideal for candidates interested in developing deeper expertise in fund accounting and private assets.
Key ResponsibilitiesFund Accounting & ValuationMaintain accurate fund accounting records and detailed investment schedulesPerform cash and position reconciliationsTrack committed capital, capital calls, and distributionsCoordinate with custodians and third‑party valuation providersReview valuation inputs and assist with NAV verification and reasonableness checksRespond to tax‑related inquiries, including Return of Capital (ROC), cash and non‑cash distributions, and capital gainsMonitor portfolio updates and material events to ensure accurate accounting treatmentAudit & Compliance SupportSupport annual external fund auditsPrepare and respond to auditor requests related to capital activity, valuations, and fund transactionsAssist with audit documentation and internal reportingFund Administration & Investor SupportSupport investor onboarding by reviewing subscription agreements and documentationEnsure investor records align with legal documentation and capital commitmentsCollaborate with Accounting, Investment, and Client Services teamsMust‑Have QualificationsPost‑secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field2+ years of experience in fund accounting, private equity, venture capital, or alternative investmentsHands‑on experience with reconciliations, capital calls, and distribution processesUnderstanding of private fund tax concepts, including ROC and partner tax reportingStrong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliations)Strong written and verbal communication skillsEligible to work in AB, SK, MB, or ONNice‑to‑Have QualificationsFund administration experienceExposure to prospectus filings or regulatory bodiesFund audit experienceCPA designation or CPA candidateExperience with Canadian private fund structuresExperience in asset management or investment management environmentsExperience with custodian platformsSoft SkillsStrong communication skillsDetail‑oriented and analytical thinkerAble to work with urgency in a deadline‑driven environmentCollaborative team playerJob Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of VANCOUVER, BC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $80000.00/hr.
