As a Porter at MercyOne, you will perform a variety of foodservice functions including ordering, checking in of deliveries, putting inventory away in storeroom, keeping storeroom clean and organized, and other duties as assigned. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne.
Assumes responsibility for inventory control of storeroom; monitors stock for proper rotation and storage location. Maintains inventory control of cleaning supplies and equipment.Places orders with other departments or local vendors as requested by ManagerInspects all shipments received against purchase orders for completeness and condition of product. Returns outdated items or items that do not meet minimum standards according to procedure.Receives requisitions, fills orders as needed and delivers items to appropriate areas. Follows department procedure for filling and recording interdepartmental supply requests.Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work areas according to department checklists.Follows HACCP techniques and other food safety guidelines in preparation, storage, handling, and holding of all food items including leftovers.Completes quality monitors and maintains related records in work area.Covers, dates and labels all food items in storage. Rotates food products and other items on a "first-in, first-out" basis.Demonstrates effective communication skills by respectfully sharing necessary information to customers, coworkers and supervisors in a timely manner.Schedule:
10:30 am – 7:00 pm weekend and holiday requirements.General Requirements:
Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties.Previous experience in food service preferred.Ability to perform detailed assignments, follow oral and written instructions, and meet services deadlines.Ability to adapt to unexpected events, including changes in routine, work assignments and variations in scheduled hours.Education:
