A Port Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other cargo handling equipment to load, unload, move, and stack materials within a port or marine terminal. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient cargo flow, maintaining safety standards, and supporting port logistics operations.

**Pay Rate:**
_The pay rate for this job is $18 - $18 / hour*_
**What you'll be doing as a Port Forklift Operator :**
+ Operate forklifts (including high capacity or container forklifts) to move cargo, pallets, and containers throughout the port
+ Load and unload trucks, vessels, railcars, and storage areas
+ Inspect forklifts and equipment daily to ensure safe working condition
+ Follow all port safety regulations, OSHA standards, and terminal operating procedures
+ Assist with securing cargo, including strapping, blocking, and bracing when required
+ Maintain accurate records of cargo movement and equipment usage
+ Communicate with supervisors, crane operators, and logistics teams using radios or hand signals
+ Identify damaged cargo and report issues promptly
+ Support general port operations, including housekeeping and staging cargo
**Available shifts:**
Shift Timings: 1st Shift (Day) & Weekends
**Job requirements:**
+ Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady
+ Experience operating forklifts in an industrial, warehouse, or port environment.
+ Valid forklift certification (port-specific certifications may be required).
+ Ability to operate various forklift types (standard, reach, clamp, container handler).
+ Understanding of port logistics, cargo handling, and safety procedures.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor environments.
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
+ Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends
+ Experience in marine terminals or intermodal operations.
+ TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
+ Knowledge of hazardous materials handling (HAZMAT).
+ Familiarity with terminal operating systems (TOS).
+ Outdoor port environment with exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment.
+ Fast paced setting requiring attention to detail and situational awareness
