NPL now have following Senior Operator Position within the Processing Department. The successful candidates will join a dynamic processing team and will be required to perform responsibilities to a high standard

Operator, Senior –Refinery  Operator, Senior – Lime Plant  Operator, Senior - Autoclaves

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Area Supervisor – Processing, the successful applicant will work in a team that is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the processing plant. 

 

About you

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Minimum of 5 - 7 years of plant operating experience in a similar role A minimum of grade twelve (12) level of education with First Aid Certificate Ability to understand and work within defined operating parameters Stable work history and ability to work under minimal supervision and at times fill in and complete all Supervisor duties. Detailed understanding of Permit to Work systems and Isolation of stored energy. The ability to work within a team. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate well with good written and spoken English Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to deliver on the job training to junior operators.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Operator, you will:

Operate your area of the process plant within the Metallurgical defined parameters to ensure optimal performance Conduct routine inspections, escalate maintenance issues and troubleshoot issues encountered in your area of the process plant. Conduct general safety inspections in the area of responsibility Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks on a variety of equipment Assist in training of trainee mill operators Assist Shift Foreman and Area Supervisor with ideas to maximise production in the area of responsibility Record operational data accurately and report any deviances outside approved operating parameters. Ensure all work in process areas are performed in accordance with Permit to Work standards Participate in training programs and safety meetings to enhance skills and knowledge. Liaise with maintenance and technical teams to ensure equipment reliability. Work in a manner that will not endanger self or any other person and communicate effectively across all levels. Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures

Mobilization Requirements

Must have an up-to-date Police clearance certificate (acquired within the last 6 months) Be a Local Porgerean Candidate (Cat 1A – SML 1B – LMP or Cat 2 -Other Porgera) and available to start immediately Rotation is 14 Days on and 7 Days off including weekends 12hours Day/Night shift Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
