The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Tradesperson – Fitter – Fixed Plant Maintenance Crushing & Grinding                                                              

About the role

Reporting to the Supervisor – Crushing & Grinding this role is to carry out online maintenance and shutdown outage tasks of the Crushing and Grinding area consisting of 1 Gyratory crusher, 4 cone crushers, 2 SAG Mills, 3 Ball Mills and over 30 conveyor belts along with associated equipment.

 

In this role, you will;

Carry out preventative maintenance of plant and equipment with a focus on maintaining safety and maximising production Resolve operational or technical equipment problems to minimise interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures Work as a member of the Crusher/SAG Mill team, including contributing to a positive team environment and supporting the training and development unskilled local employees and trade crews Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and proper manner within government regulations & company policy Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures

 

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences 

Essential

Trade Qualifications compliant to NATTB Maintenance Fitting Machining Standard - will be verified with NATTB 3 years’ experience as an Indentured Tradesman           Mechanical fitting experience in Fixed plant maintenance in mining or oil and gas                                Safety hazard awareness in JHA or JSA, Zero Tasol, Take 5, FLRA, Risk Assessments Experience working on Crushers, Conveyors, Mills, Pumps and Gearboxes  The ability to read and interpret documents, Maintenance manuals, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions Excellent communication skills, sound technical, planning and organisation skills  Previous experience working in the mining industry around Crushing and Grinding Section within Papua New Guinea High risk work tickets - WAH, Confined Space, Overhead crane, Rigging, forklift                     HDPE or Poly Welding     External qualifications

Mobilization Requirement 

This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
