About New Porgera 

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employs nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports. 

About the role 

New Porgera Limited is seeking an experienced and dedicated Superintendent - Human Resources to join our team based in Porgera, with key responsibilities in Benefits administrations, HR information systems, data and reporting, payroll and remuneration strategy.  Focus on data integrity, systems improvement, team accountability and consistent outcomes will be priorities.

Reporting to the Manager – Human Resources, you will be responsible for improving and further developing our policy, procedures and ways of working to ensure we are providing a ‘fit for purpose’ service to NPL employees in an efficient and timely manner, seeking continuous improvement and accountability with ‘right first time’ outcomes.

NPL operates in a complex environment that requires the successful applicant to be a self-starter, aware of micro and macro issues, with strong ability in further utilising and developing systems and process to support the mines employees and reporting requirements in a timely and succinct manner.

You will need to build and maintain relationships from our operating environment through external organisations (Nasfund, Insurers etc) as well as internally with department leads and peers particularly in HR and Finance.

About you

To succeed in this role, it is expected you will have a bachelor’s degree in human resources/business or a related field with a minimum 10-year experience building and leading teams to success.  Experience of ining/Oil & Gas /heavy Industry is preferred but not essential with an ability to analyse issues; making sound judgements and recommendations and successfully implement.

You will bring initiative and ideas to your team, set a clear strategy, accountability and visible leadership with a focus on stakeholder requirements, taking action to ensure accountability and delivery consistently. Given the dynamic environment, you must demonstrate agility and an ability to work effectively under pressure, understand and meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
