SPECIALIST – COST CONTROL – MOBILE MAINTENANCE

Reporting to the Superintendent – Mobile Engineering, the Specialist – Cost Control will be responsible for providing disciplined cost control, budgeting, forecasting and financial governance to support the Mobile Maintenance department at New Porgera Limited. The role works closely with maintenance execution, planning and finance teams to ensure operating and capital expenditure aligns with approved maintenance plans and business objectives.

The ideal candidate must have:

Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a related discipline.Proven experience in cost control, budgeting and forecasting within a mining or heavy maintenance environment.Demonstrated experience managing Opex budgets and monthly reforecasts.Experience tracking and reporting capital expenditure and capital project performance.Strong analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills.Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.Ability to communicate effectively with maintenance planners, supervisors and engineers.High attention to detail with a disciplined and structured approach to financial governance.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesAbility to work effectively under pressure and manage competing prioritiesSolid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in mining operation

Job Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain the annual Mobile Maintenance operating budget.Prepare accurate monthly reforecasts based on maintenance plans, actual spend and emerging risks.Provide daily and month-to-date reporting of actual expenditure and cost variances.Engage proactively with maintenance execution teams to confirm upcoming monthly spend requirements.Work closely with long-term maintenance planning resources to ensure maintenance plans align with Opex forecasts.Ensure costs are allocated to the correct cost centres and work orders.Complete and validate monthly accruals in accordance with site financial close requirements.Track capital project expenditure and ensure invoices are receipted in a timely manner.Adjust capital forecasts where project schedules or scopes change.Support continuous improvement of cost-control and reporting processes within Mobile Maintenance.

Mobilisation Requirement

This position is open to PNG Citizens Only.Rotation is FIFO, 21 days on / 14 days off.Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.Must hold a valid Police Clearance Certificate (issued within the last 6 months).
