New Porgera Limited (NPL) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Foreman – Development to join our underground mining team. This role is critical to the safe and efficient execution of mine development activities, ensuring all works are carried out in line with production targets, safety standards, and operational plans.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise underground development crews to safely deliver planned headings (declines, crosscuts, drives, etc.) Coordinate with mine planning and engineering teams to ensure development targets are achieved on schedule Monitor and manage performance of jumbo, bogger, and service crews Ensure compliance with daily work instructions, ground support standards, and drilling/blasting procedures Lead and participate in daily pre-start meetings and ensure effective communication across shifts Enforce safe work practices and conduct regular workplace inspections and hazard reporting Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to team members to build a strong safety and performance culture Maintain accurate shift reports and development progress records Report on equipment status and coordinate maintenance requirements with the maintenance department Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in development efficiency and cost control

 

What We’re Looking For:

Certificate IV in Underground Metalliferous Mining or equivalent; Trade qualification or Diploma is an advantage Minimum 10 years of experience in underground mining with at least 5 years in development supervision Strong knowledge of underground development methods, ground support, and ventilation practices Proven leadership and team management capabilities in a fast-paced mining environment Good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and lead multicultural teams Sound understanding of PNG Mine Safety Act and Regulations Experience working in remote site conditions Valid PNG driver’s license is desirable

 

Mobilization Requirements:

FIFO roster: 21 days on / 14 days off Must pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening Must hold a current Police Clearance Certificate (issued within the last 6 months)
