About the role
We are seeking a principled, disciplined, and methodical Senior Advisor – Grievance to strengthen the administration and quality assurance of New Porgera Limited’s (NPL) grievance management processes. This role ensures the grievance system operates in alignment with NPL and Barrick policies, as well as international best practices including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.
You will oversee case management, ensure data integrity, and provide strategic input to enhance grievance handling and response processes. The role works closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure all concerns raised by community members and other parties are addressed fairly, promptly, and transparently in a fast-paced operational environment.
In this role, you will.
Ensure the grievance team operates in line with NPL and Barrick policies, as well as commitments to sustainable development. Uphold principles of fairness, transparency, and accessibility in accordance with international human rights frameworks. Monitor and track grievance cases to ensure timely resolution within established timeframes. Provide weekly and monthly grievance reports and trend analysis to Senior Management. Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate responses and recommend preventative or corrective actions. Oversee the use and upkeep of the Borealis grievance database, ensuring accurate data entry, tracking, and analysis. Escalate high-risk or sensitive grievances to the CSR Manager for prompt action. Deliver guidance and training to grievance officers and relevant staff on grievance procedures and best practices. Contribute to the continuous improvement of grievance processes, tools, and performance against internal benchmarks.

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in law, Social Science, Conflict Resolution, or a related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in grievance handling, complaints management, or compliance. Sound understanding of international grievance frameworks (e.g., UNGPs, VPSHR). Proven ability to manage sensitive issues with neutrality, professionalism, and cultural awareness. Strong skills in reporting, data analysis, and case documentation. Proficiency in using database systems (preferably Borealis) for tracking and reporting grievances. Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage across departments and with communities. Fluency in English and Tok Pisin; knowledge of Ipili or Engan is highly regarded.Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
