Polysomnographic Technologist - Sleep Lab

About This Position: 

Full Time, Night Shift (Three 12 Hour shifts: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays)Night Shift Pay Differential included New Hire Bonus of $15,000 to Eligible External Candidates Location: West Hospital Sleep Lab 

 

This position performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies and may provide supervision of other staff. They prepare patient equipment for testing, interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain pre and post testing procedures. They perform and document testing per lab protocols. They will monitor patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues. They will assist with scoring sleep studies and generating reports. The role prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. They determine and report needed repairs/replacements. They will maintain credentials as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BPRT). Certifications obtained through the American Board of Sleep Medicine will be honored through their certification date or until credentials through the BPRT are obtained.  

 

Requirements:  

High School Diploma/GED is required. Associate's Degree is preferred.Requires 1-3 years of experience.Registered Respiratory Therapist through the NBRC or Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.Must obtain certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or certification as a Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) within 2 years of date of hire.Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
