The Policy & Government Relations (PGR) team is seeking a Government Relations professional. The role is based in Washington, D.C. with flexibility for hybrid work.
The PGR Team
The PGR team is responsible for the Firm’s federal and state government relations strategies and public policy engagement, including:
Promoting and protecting the Firm's business interests by engaging policymakers and other policy influencersCollaborating with stakeholders across the Firm to drive the development of government relations strategies and public policy positionsIdentifying and conducting analyses on trending legislative, regulatory, and public policy issuesBuilding and maintaining relationships with Members of Congress, administration officials, their staffs, and other key public policy stakeholders (e.g., think tanks, industry associations)Supporting Firm clients and client account teamsWork You’ll Do
Support and collaborate with federal government relations and public policy teams by monitoring and analyzing a wide variety of federal legislative, regulatory, and political developmentsConduct research and develop summaries of key legislative and policy issues for Firm leaders and other internal stakeholdersCollaborate on cross-team group projects and work productsDevelop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders in Congress and the administrationDevelop and drive advocacy and outreach strategies before Congress on issues important to the businessEngage with industry associations and third-party coalitionsQualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree5+ total years of professional work experience in legislative, policy, or related fields with demonstrated ability to work on a wide range of policy issuesMinimum 3 years of experience working in Congress, trade associations, policy research organizations, and/or public policy organizations, with a demonstrated understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and policymaking processStrong writing skills and ability to synthesize and summarize complex policy issues for non-policy audiencesMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the futureAbility to travel 0-20%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you servePreferred:
Experience in a role with writing, research, and legislative analysis responsibilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple issue areas and adapt to shifting priorities; comfortable driving projects and coordinating across internal stakeholdersTrack record of maintaining strong relationships with policymakers and policy influencersStrong presentation skills, including executive summaries, well-structured briefing materials, and PowerPoint developmentThe wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $109,200 to $181,900.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
