**Job Summary and Qualifications**
Under the direction of the Security Manager or designee, the off duty Armed Police Officer (APO) is responsible for the protection of the facility’s assets, people and programs. The APO establishes a positive Security image by being highly visible and vigilant to fire, health and safety hazards as well as criminal threats. The APO takes immediate corrective action on violations and/or deficiencies to minimize the potential for harm. The APO maintains a close working relationship with hospital employees to provide a safe and secure environment.
What you will do in this role:
+ Patrols Hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders. Monitors conduct of visitors on Hospital premises; confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
+ Reports on safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
+ Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from Hospital personnel, students and visitors; assists in intervening in physical confrontations with violent people.
+ Responds to a code for violent person assistance (Code 22 code calls).
+ Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
+ Secures and/or unlock offices and facilities, if needed.
+ May assist in parking control and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations.
+ Responds to scene and provides necessary controls involving disaster, fires, alarms, codes or emergencies.
+ Assists with the implementation of an ongoing program of orientation and ongoing training for personnel assigned to the Security Department and in other areas of the hospital as indicated.
+ Maintains services in accordance with the standards established by the Hospital, federal, State and local standards.
+ Maintains all equipment and supplies required in the provision of departmental services in optimum operational status with recommendation for procurement or replacement of equipment as needed.
+ Insures appropriate utilization of all supplies and equipment within the Department.
+ Facilitates communication between the Security Department and other Hospital departments to enhance services.
+ Maintains a high degree of competency in the provision of department services in order to provide appropriate supervision of personnel directly responsible for these services.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned by the Security Director or Police Coordinators.
+ Exhibits a working knowledge of City, State and Federal laws, ordinances and regulations, and their functional process.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Law Enforcement Certification
+ Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Texas Peace Officer.
