Police Officer

Summary: Under direction, performs protective work participating in a squad of police and security officers; patrols in assigned areas; conducts safety and security inspections, identifies potential safety and security problem areas and applies corrective actions or submits recommendations to the appropriate authority; answers calls and conducts preliminary investigations; and performs other duties as required. Responsibilities: Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, medical staff, and the general public by responding to emergency situations, supervising police and security personnel, and maintaining law and order. Other information: EDUCATION High School Diploma or equivalent required, BS preferred. EXPERIENCE Must have a minimum of three years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer. LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION A North Carolina driver's license and the North Carolina Department of Justice, Division of Standards and Training, Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification is required. OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Outstanding communication skills and the ability to make thoughts and plans verbally understood are required. Above average reading and writing skills are required for the documentation of events and daily reports. Experience in the use of a computer with business and medical related software preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT Climate controlled environment inside and exposure to outside weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to extreme hot and cold temperature fluctuations; and exposure to bloodborne pathogens which may require the wearing of specialized personal protective equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is active walking most of the shift including climbing stairs which required. Manipulates CCTV video surveillance system, fire system, and building access control system.
