The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park Headquarters location in the Global Marketing External Affairs (GMEA) Corporate function

The role equips leaders, functions, and employees to achieve intended outcomes and drives project cost and resource effective utilization by defining accountability and utilization of established tools and techniques.

What You’ll Work On

Responsible for managing multiple new Corporate Marketing, Public Affairs, Content, and Communications related projects, both domestic and international, from beginning to end, with accountability for detailed planning and project execution. Disciplined Project Management: Deliver expected outcomes by incorporating best practices into project management to meet and/or exceed customer needs across all key stakeholder groupsInitiate projects and ensure clear scope and success criteria. Plan projects by establishing roles/responsibilities, timelines, workback plans, & budgets.  Identify opportunities to improve project planning and forecast accuracy.Execute the project plan by facilitating meetings and managing resources (FTEs & costs) and deliverables.  Identify and address synergies and/or conflicts across multiple projects.Monitor and Control through reports & updates, managing risk, and effectively using tools and systems.Close projects by conducting lessons learned sessions and completing closeout documentation. Identify trends across projects and propose systematic changes for broader application of lessons learned.Coach/guide/lead other stakeholders to elevate their level of performance in the above areas.Effective Stakeholder Management including identifying stakeholders and providing clear and consistent communication, both oral and written to all project stakeholders on key project elements such as scope, timeline, issues, etcThis position will work with limited supervision; is accountable for all project deliverables

Responsibilities:

Participate in project assessments and ensure project scope and success criteria are clearly outlinedEstablish clear priorities among project activities, and develop and manage project plans to achieve deliverables within expected timeframes and milestonesManage cross-functional project timeline and follow-up with project team members to ensure timely completion of tasksProvide cross-functional forecasting, tracking, reporting and oversight on project budget and expenditures.Maintain documentation and provide data management for project deliverables; identify communication plans for knowledge sharing across functional areas and project teamsProactively identify changes in project scope and assure appropriate measures are taken to reassess and amend requirements, budget and timelineManage project plan through project lifecycle and maintain resource and financial allocations. Maintain documentation, provide data management, and conduct lessons learned at appropriate project phasesWork directly with functional area leaders to resolve issues that impact completion of project objectives; determine when to escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.Create and deliver project review presentations to leadership stakeholders.GMEA Operational support (as assigned) for overall functional needs (e.g. AQR Audit, reporting requirements, preparation and support for critical meetings, etc.)Serve as backup (as assigned) for GMEA Operational financial and procurement support (Contracts/SOW/P.O.)

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience plus demonstrated competence in project management.  Engineering degree, Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP Certification), or equivalent10+ years’ experience in project leadership rolesCritical thinking/problem-solving skills methodExtensive knowledge of and competency in project management methodology and processes, including planning tasks and allocating resources, risk management, working in teams, issues management, monitoring and reporting, and documentationSuccessful record leading complex Projects in a variety of industries with planning and execution, delivering results with intended outcomes.Proficient with Microsoft applications: Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, SharePoint, ProjectProficiency with Project Management Software Tools (Smartsheet) is highly desirableAbility to plan and facilitate meetings with appropriate post meeting follow-up (notes, action items, escalation required)Experience in working effectively cross-functionally, including with marketing and sales, public affairs, communications, operations, facilities, information technology, human resources, procurement, risk management, financial reporting, audit, government affairs, and investor relationsProven skill set to analyze and position key information among stakeholders and collaborators, providing proper context and framingBlend of technical, management, and leadership expertise

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Public speaking and strong presentation skills required; ability to distill Program detailed information to key summary overview and effectively engage leadership audience.Ability to negotiate consensus among diverse groups and influence the activities of others not in own reporting structurePersonal integrity and courage to escalate issues about the project and to advocate for responsible solutions to managementAdaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.

The base pay for this position is $111,300.00 – $222,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
