Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our Program Management/Construction Management (PMCM) team and lead surveying efforts for utility diversion projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in surveying, mapping, and geospatial data collection, with a focus on utility infrastructure. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of surveying services.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct and oversee field surveys to locate, map, and document existing utility infrastructure, including underground and overhead utilities.

Prepare accurate topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys to support utility diversion and construction activities.

Utilize advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and 3D laser scanners to collect precise data.

Provide detailed survey data to assist in the planning, design, and execution of utility relocation and protection activities.

Identify potential conflicts between existing utilities and proposed construction plans, and provide recommendations for resolution.

Collaborate with engineers, utility providers, and contractors to ensure survey data aligns with project requirements.

Process and analyze survey data using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or GIS platforms.

Maintain accurate records of survey data, utility locations, and as-built documentation.

Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings for project stakeholders.

Ensure all surveying activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as project-specific requirements.

Conduct quality control checks to verify the accuracy and reliability of survey data.

Supervise and mentor junior surveyors and field crews, providing guidance and technical support.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and utility providers to ensure survey activities are aligned with project schedules and objectives.

Identify and address potential surveying challenges, such as access restrictions, utility conflicts, or data discrepancies.

Develop innovative solutions to overcome technical and logistical challenges in the field.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in surveying, with at least 3-5 years focused on utility-related projects.

Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Chartered Surveyor certification is required.

Strong knowledge of utility systems, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and construction processes.

Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS) and surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations, 3D scanners).

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
