To drive carbon emissions while expanding our fleet vehicle variance out of our last mile operations while increasing the vehicle, we're seeking an exceptional Program Manager for our Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Sustainability, Fleet & Parking team in Japan.
Join our pioneering team as a Program Manager focused on sustainability, fleet management, and parking strategy for Amazon Logistics in Japan. In this role, you will develop and execute programs that increase capacity, safety, reduce cost or carbon emissions across our in-station and road operations while building a fleet and parking strategy for our growing last-mile delivery network, focusing on fast deliveries for our customers. You will collaborate with several teams, including operations, technology, finance, and deployment teams to implement customer experience improvements, sustainability initiatives, and cost-saving measures that advance our journey toward net-zero carbon goals.
Working at the intersection of innovation and operation, you will be responsible for building long-term vision strategies with our Fleet Management Company while creating flexible transportation solutions for diverse delivery channels. This position offers the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our sustainability commitments while developing scalable solutions for one of Amazon's fastest-growing business areas in Japan. Your work will directly contribute to Amazon's commitment to be net zero carbon by 2040 while supporting the continued growth of our last-mile delivery capabilities.
Previous success in program management, operations, or final mile transportation, along with experience in matrix organizations and strategic leadership, will be highly valued. The role demands someone who can take ownership of complex business challenges and drive strategy, execution, and successful delivery of results while maintaining our customer-backwards approach. Japanese language skills are required.

Key job responsibilities
• Build and implement short and long-term fleet capacity planning mechanisms that align with both operational needs and business goals, working closely with Fleet Management Companies and Car Manufacturers and internal teams to optimize vehicle selection, deployment, and maintenance across our delivery network.
• Support to develop and manage a vehicle catalog that supports various modes of transport and delivery channels, ensuring appropriate vehicle options are available for both short-term and long-term operational needs.
• Establish and execute a parking strategy that accommodates diverse delivery channels and transportation modes, optimizing resource allocation while balancing cost, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to transition our fleet toward emission-free vehicles, partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to pilot sustainable solutions and build supporting infrastructure.
• Manage resources and risks across complex cross-functional programs, ensuring efficient allocation and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
• Enhance customer and partner experience by translating needs into actionable programs while identifying cost-saving opportunities and maintaining service quality.
• Design and manage reporting mechanisms to track program progress, forecast future needs, and optimize sustainability, fleet, and parking initiatives while clearly communicating impact to leadership.
A day in the life
Your days will be dynamic and self-directed as you create solutions for our partners and drivers transitioning to a larger, more sustainable vehicle pool. While you will manage regular metrics reporting and fixed mechanisms, most of your time will involve defining your own priorities - from negotiating with OEMs and manufacturers to designing new operational setups. You might spend one morning analyzing fleet performance data, followed by collaborating with internal teams on roadmap planning in the afternoon. Another day might involve visiting potential parking locations or testing new vehicle types with delivery partners. Each day presents unique opportunities to innovate for our growing business while long term you work toward Amazon's climate pledge goals.

Our team of 11 members is driving pioneer work on new business models for last-mile operations in Japan, identifying the optimal modes of transport in terms of safety, cost, capacity, delivery speed, and sustainability.
