Job Summary

The Plumber is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and related equipment at the Hampton Roads Convention Center (HRCC). This position ensures that all plumbing systems function efficiently, safely, and in compliance

with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain accurate records of labor time, parts used, and work completed.Perform corrective and preventive maintenance duties on plumbing systems.Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing systems and associated equipment.Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all tasks.Assist with additional duties as required in a team-oriented, results-driven environment.

Qualifications

Master Plumber license required.2–4 years of experience in general plumbing maintenance and repair.High school diploma (or equivalent) with specialized training in building maintenance, plumbing, or related systems.Valid driver’s license required.

Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in repairing flush valves (Sloan Regals), angle stops, vacuum breakers, and wall-hung urinals.Ability to reseal and reinstall toilets, troubleshoot shower valve issues, and replace cartridges.Skilled in sweating copper, brazing brass, and threading iron pipes.Proficient with threading tools, pipe wrenches, torches, and other standard plumbing tools.Ability to clear clogs using plungers, augers, snakes, and electric cable machines.Knowledge of pipe assembly (PVC, copper, iron, CPVC) and hose repairs.Strong understanding of pump repair, alignment, and troubleshooting.Familiarity with lift stations, sewage ejector pumps, domestic water pumps, and check valves.Ability to climb stairs and perform work at high heights.Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. unaided.Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.Basic proficiency with Windows-based computer systems.Excellent communication skills.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision.Strong teamwork skills and reliability.Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.
