Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
In this role, you will design, build and enhance cloud-based platforms that enable high-quality software delivery. Working within a cross-functional Agile team, you will automate processes, optimise performance and ensure the reliability of services that support critical client outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and product teams, applying a software-engineering mindset to solve complex problems and champion continuous improvement. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work, explore creative solutions and grow within a supportive community that values curiosity and shared learning.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design & engineer secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure or GCP
• Develop & automate infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible
• Build & maintain CI/CD pipelines and tooling to enhance delivery speed and quality
• Optimise & stabilise platforms through monitoring, performance tuning and reliability practices
• Collaborate & innovate with Agile teams to embed engineering excellence and continuous learning
• Support & improve containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Troubleshoot & resolve complex technical challenges across distributed systems
To succeed in this position, you should bring strong hands-on platform engineering experience, a solid understanding of cloud and automation technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an Agile delivery environment. You should be confident working across the full engineering lifecycle and comfortable communicating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
You should have:
• Experience in software or platform engineering within Agile teams
• Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation/CDK, Ansible)
• Experience designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Strong capability with Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration
• Linux/Windows expertise with scripting (Bash, PowerShell)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins)
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
• Understanding of distributed systems, networking and microservices
• Experience improving reliability, performance and cost efficiency
