Position Summary
The Platforms Senior Engineer develops, implements, and promotes infrastructure best practices. Platform Engineers provide an interface to Life Time Technology Development and Life Time business divisions for services. The ideal Platforms Senior Engineer will focus on leading engineers when designing infrastructure. They are steeped in technology expertise, but also lead with an assembled team to execute complex projects with minimal oversight. The successful candidate will be a goal-oriented self-starter, effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and leadership levels, and demonstrated ability to provide “best in class” solutions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Leads problem solving and consultancy on technical projectsLeads and develops engineers, growing their knowledge and skillsetCollaborates with technical leads to integrate an end-to-end design that's well documentedReports on the status of projects periodically, resolving roadblocks independently when feasibleCross-trains engineering staff on Cloud and DevOps concepts and proceduresLeads or consults on the most complex incident escalations and performs complex troubleshootingEnsures solutions are maintained for high availability, scalability, security, and supportabilityMentors junior team membersLeads automation and configuration management development and code reviewDesigns Active Directory environment and full migration strategy from Active Directory Position Requirements
8 or more years of experience in designing, implementing and maintaining infrastructureBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related fieldExperience implementing cloud architecture and computing including AWS, Microsoft Azure (PaaS and IaaS) and other cloud based computing environmentsAdvanced understanding of Linux and Windows ServerExpert knowledge in Active Directory and DNS SolutionsExpert knowledge in MS Exchange, Lync and Skype for BusinessExpert knowledge in Cloud Technologies such as Office 365, MS Azure & AWS Knowledgeable in VMware, and Hyper-VArchitects for failure and considers disaster recovery for new and existing systemsExperience implementing Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration systems
Preferred Requirements
Experience with Atlassian toolsAdvanced knowledge of at least one configuration management system (Chef, Ansible, Puppet or CFEngine)Experience managing a CDNProven experience with application delivery networking (ADN)ELKITILSOX, PCI, HIPAASplunkContainersAnsible
