Plant Technician - I&C Technician - Independence

This equipment includes, but is not limited to the Combustion Turbine Generators, boilers, and auxiliary equipment. Inspect repair, install and remove all types of switches, control equipment, transmitters, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems. Selected candidate must adhere to all company safety & environmental policies and procedures and effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvements. Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within operating range. **Job Description** Job Description + Performs troubleshooting and documentation, and assists in the resolution of problems discovered on shift + Performs daily maintenance, overhauls, calibration, troubleshooting, repair/replacement and removal/installation of plant equipment and systems. + Makes decisions and recommends appropriate repair techniques for plant equipment to peers, supervisors, plant management. + Conducts excitation system inspections and preventive maintenance + Proficient in operating material handling equipment + Develops and implements plant operating procedures + Understands relationship of equipment to plant systems + May provide instruction and teaching to lower level employees + Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE Required Qualifications: + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Basic skills in AC/DC electrical circuits and control + Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment + Ability to work from drawings and instruction manuals. + Theoretical and practical knowledge of electricity, electrical safety, circuits, control, equipment, electrical and instrumentation schematics + 4-6 years related experience, preferably in an industrial or power plant environment. + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Excellent organizational skills + Experience with complete range of transmitter calibration equipment + Experience with PLC , DCS, pneumatic control valves and systems, basic electronics, motor control systems and process control systems + Ability to read and understand schematics and P&ID drawings. + Ability to perform annual instrument calibrations as part of the electrical and instrumentation team. + Ability to properly use electrical test equipment and other similar tools. + Basic computer skills such as MS Office, Maximo. + Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions. + Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as apply creative solutions to unique IC&E problems is desirable + Ability to coordinate IC&E work with outside contractors and OEMs as required + Candidates must successfully complete POSS/MASS exam for consideration + Position may be filled at a different level, based on experience Desired Qualifications: + Five years’ experience as a plant technician in a power plant environment, or related field + DCS Experience + PLC Experience: Allen Bradley, GE FANUC, ABB, etc. + Combined Cycle Combustion Turbine Facility experience + Combined Cycle Steam Turbine Facility experience + Preferred CEMS maintenance/Trouble shooting experience + DCS and PLC to I/O to field device troubleshooting experience + Electro-mechanical, solid state, and microprocessor relay experience.
