Job Description

The Process & Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation and maintenance of the facility. This position performs activities required to operate and maintain the plant as part of a team, including process control, laboratory testing, equipment operation, and basic maintenance duties.

Main Responsibilities:

Monitor and control facility operations through SCADA systems, instrument panels, and programmable logic control unitsOperate and monitor automatic and semi-automatic equipment including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, centrifuges, and chemical feed systemsPerform laboratory testing (chemical, physical, biological) for process control, including TS, TSS, pH, and other typical wastewater/anaerobic digestion testsMonitor and adjust chemical dosages and process parametersSample wastewater, sludge, and gases according to scheduleMaintain detailed operational logs and recordsPerform preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and support maintenance technicians with complex tasksEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental proceduresPractice proper housekeeping and waste disposalDiagnose operational issues and implement corrective actionsSupport team objectives and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Minimum post-secondary education requiredMinimum 2-5 years related experienceAssociate's degree in science/technical field preferredHeavy Equipment Operator certification an assetExperience with anaerobic digestion highly regardedStrong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, Anaerobic Digestion processes and laboratory proceduresProficient computer skills (SCADA, email, data analysis)Valid driver's license with clean recordForklift certification preferredExcellent problem-solving and analytical abilitiesStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Basic mathematical skillsDetail-oriented with ability to follow proceduresTeam-oriented with strong work ethic

Fast-paced, physical environmentExposure to dust and process odorsMust provide own transportation

Working Hours:

Monday-FridayRotating shifts: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM & 2:30 PM-10:30 PMWeekend work as requiredOvertime availability
