We are looking for a Plant Manager. This position will be based at Buffalo Grove, IL.

Position Overview

The Plant Manager will lead a dynamic organization dedicated to manufacturing cutting-edge building technologies that define industry innovation. This strategic leader will advance manufacturing operations by leveraging Siemens' pioneering approaches in digitalization, automation, artificial intelligence, and lean manufacturing principles. The role encompasses comprehensive oversight of all manufacturing operations, engineering processes, and technical support functions, ensuring products are manufactured to the highest quality standards while maintaining optimal cost efficiency and meeting customer delivery expectations. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence through a steadfast commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and the implementation of smart manufacturing solutions that position Siemens at the forefront of building technology innovation. 

This position reports to the Head of the U.S. Buildings Product Technical Unit and has production supervisors, maintenance and engineering supervisors/managers as direct reports.

You will make an impact by:

Assists senior management across the business unit in the development and formulation of the manufacturing vision, mission, long-range strategies and tactical plans to execute monthly KPIs and policies. Drives cooperative planning and performance metrics between all functions including planning, distribution center, customer service and business segments to yield tangible improvements in safety, quality, service, cost and growth. Formulates and drives manufacturing strategies which include artificial intelligence, lean, digitization and automation that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its productivity and support business growth while supporting key business initiatives Lead and coach department managers to meet and exceed critical KPI’s for the manufacturing plant, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards. Coordinates with R&D and product management functions to effectively manage the implementation of manufacturing new products or existing product changes. Lives the principles of the Siemens operating model every day and coaches the manufacturing team on core methods of Hoshin Kanri, Value Stream Mapping, Process Standardization, Structured Problem Solving, and Lean Coaching. Partner with global and regional manufacturing support teams to drive these principles. Develop a wining culture and inspire the manufacturing organization to cultivate a continuous improvement culture to constantly strive for improvements in lead time, quality, and productivity. Must be comfortable interacting with all manufacturing associates and spending time on the manufacturing floor. Coordinates with overall Buffalo Grove campus and corporate safety management functions to insure a cultural commitment to safety. Coordinates with R&D and Marketing functions to effectively manage the implementation of new products or existing product changes. Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.). Develops and manages annual operational and capital budgets. 

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in industrial, mechanical, manufacturing engineering or business administration (operations/supply chain focus), or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline. 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, lean knowledge and preferably in a discrete oriented operations and/or related industry. This position requires up to 5% travel. Some of the travel may be international.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with manufacturing-based technology in support of mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic products, processes, and principles preferred. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
