Plant Manager

OVERVIEW

The Plant Manager will be responsible for delivering operational leadership to the Plaistow site through the management of site performance and the delivery of strategic projects and initiatives. 

 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute mid and long-term strategic plans for site related to plant, people and process performance. Proactively manage relationships with key commercial/support stakeholders to ensure actions within Plaistow deliver customer needs with strategic intent, working closely with NPD and R&T. Embed the needs of the customer within the operations and drive strategic programs that ensure targets are delivered Develops and implement plans to achieve production volumes and manufacturing/processing efficiency Design and manage effective maintenance programs that deliver KPIs and enhanced equipment reliability Provide leadership of strategic capital investments across site, including a sustainability roadmap. Provide leadership on Health & Safety, Environment and Quality initiatives for implementation throughout the site ensuring operations meet safety, quality and sustainability standards. Benchmark performance with ASR best practice and implement and drive execution of continuous improvement. Develop and manage operational budgets for the site using cost control measures and reporting against the operating plan. Provide line management to the site leadership teams. Develop and build capability of the Plaistow team, including support of performance and talent management activities. Provide leadership on employee engagement across the site to improve retention and performance and ensure positive industrial relations.

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

Production Management Experience – Significant production management experience having had responsibility for managing departments and a substantial team of direct and indirect reports with budgetary responsibility of c£20M annually. Food or Similar Industry Experience – Food, beverage, pharmaceutical or FMCG industry experience in a manufacturing environment, or a combination of food with other similar manufacturing industry experience preferred. Continuous Improvement – Demonstrated track record of understanding and applying continuous improvement principles and practices including Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, and/or Six Sigma. Safety and Environment – Previous experience of responsibility for managing safety and environmental performance. Quality – Previous experience of responsibility for managing to high-quality standards including BRC in Food Industry or ISO in non-food industry.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline, Masters or MBA highly preferred.
