Job Description
The Controller is responsible for leading the on-site accounting function within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on financial accuracy, cost efficiency, and operational support. This role emphasizes cost accounting, financial reporting, and continuous process improvement to support plant operations and leadership. The Controller will develop and maintain cost models, support month-end close and forecasting activities, and provide financial insights to leadership while ensuring alignment with internal controls and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Identify and support cost savings initiatives aimed at reducing material and labor inefficiencies through cost accounting methodologiesAnalyze production costs and recommend actions to improve operational efficiency and reduce expensesDevelop and maintain cost models to determine actual product costs using bill of materials, production data, and pricing inputsPrepare cost estimates for new or custom products to support pricing decisions and forecastingCompile and analyze manufacturing cost data for payroll allocation, inventory tracking, and variance analysisCalculate burden rates and assist in establishing departmental budgetsSupport development and maintenance of systems used to track and allocate product and service costsEnsure accurate cost allocation across functions to support reporting and decision-makingClassify costs across labor, materials, and overhead categories for analysis and reportingSupport compliance with internal policies, procedures, and operational standardsParticipate in the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingPartner with plant leadership to provide financial analysis and insights for decision-makingAssist with new business quoting activities, including cost analysis and pricing supportSupport compensation-related calculations such as incentives and bonus programsCollaborate with finance leadership on reporting, forecasting, and planning activitiesEnsure account reconciliations are completed accurately and support financial statement preparationQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMinimum of 5 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of general accounting principles and cost accounting practicesExperience with cost modeling, variance analysis, and financial reportingProficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applicationsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership teamsPreferred Qualifications
