Plant Controller

ROLE SUMMARY: the Plant Controller ensures accurate financial visibility for the manufacturing site and supports operational decision making. The role focuses on cost control, performance analysis, budgeting support, reporting accuracy, and operational partnership. It is an analytical and hands-on role closely connected to production, supply chain, and finance teams.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor and analyze plant costs, production variances, material consumption, labor efficiency, and overheads. Prepare complete monthly management reporting for the plant, including KPIs, budget vs. actuals, cost trends, and margin drivers. Maintain accurate product costing and validate cost updates in the ERP system. Support the annual budget and forecasting cycles by collecting operational data, validating assumptions with the plant teams, and ensuring correct financial inputs. Perform detailed cost analyses for production lines, waste, scrap, utilities, inventory movements, and process deviations. Provide financial insights to production, maintenance, supply chain, and quality to improve operational decisions. Track cost saving initiatives and verify the financial impact of improvement actions. Ensure proper internal controls for the plant’s financial processes, including stock accuracy, BOM accuracy, and production bookings. Coordinate with central finance on monthly closings to ensure timely, accurate plant financial results. Prepare ad hoc reports, simulations, and scenario analyses required by operations or finance. Support audits by providing accurate plant financial information and documentation. Identify process improvement opportunities in reporting accuracy, data quality, and cost transparency.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Experience in controlling within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of cost accounting, product costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing KPIs. Solid ERP knowledge, ideally SAP (CO, PP) and strong Excel skills. Ability to communicate clearly with operational teams and translate data into actionable insights. Analytical, detail driven, structured and proactive in identifying issues or deviations.
