The Plant Controller is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the areas of general and cost accounting, corporate reporting, budgeting and forecasting, risk analysis, what-if analysis, and ensures compliance with GAAP and company policies. As a site leader, the Plant Controller is expected to interact with all functional groups within the plant to serve as the finance business partner in supporting business decisions. The role partners with supply chain and site operational leaders to provide timely, reliable and quality information. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** : + Interacts with managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and operational analyses, reports and recommendations. + Supports new business and new product development efforts; including developing budgets and costing models, pricing recommendations, contract reviews, negotiations, and presentations. + Contributes to the strategic and business planning process, including providing recommendations to senior management on short-term and long-term financial and operational strategy for the organization + Analyzes plant operations, identifying areas that can be reorganized or made more efficient + As a member of the site leadership team, provides relevant information and guidance to the site General Manager to assess and improve the plant’s operating and financial performance + Leads the business planning processes (monthly forecasts, annual budget, long-range strategic plan). + Oversees the monthly financial close and reporting processes, including variance analysis and monitoring of performance against key plant metrics. + Assesses organizational performance against budget and makes actionable recommendations together with heads of operational departments. + Leads annual process of reviewing and resetting standard product costs + Ensures that the site is in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all company financial policies/procedures + Oversees all site audit activities and acts as the liaison for internal and external audit partners to meet Sarbanes-Oxley requirements; ensures proper internal controls are in place and functioning properly at the plant + Ensures proper valuation of month-end inventory and provides leadership for annual physical counts. + Prepares and provide ad hoc analysis and information to corporate management team as required, including quarterly and year-end reports, audit requests, bank requests, etc. + Oversees the processing of payroll for the hourly workforce. + Provides financial support for the site Performance Excellence program including calculating savings of the various cost reduction projects. + Participates in management meetings and activities as required, including off-site or out-of-town meetings. + Develops direct reports through effective performance management and ensures that the annual performance management processes are completed. + Continuously improves processes and systems with a view toward cost reduction and real time accuracy **.** + Participate in site management meetings and activities as required, including off-site or out-of-town meetings. Scope of Authority _- span of control_ _(work unit, site, department, division, etc.), monetary value of budget/spend authority_ _( capital, operating, etc.), P&L responsibility, etc._ Generics division Key Accountabilities _- key outcomes/deliverables, the major responsibilities, and % of time_ Accountability Responsibilities % of Time Manufacturing Accounting & Reporting + Direct the manufacturing close in a timely manner. + Review production work orders for variances, operational ERP system routers, and ERP standard hours for given operations. + Review and approve monthly journal vouchers and reconciliations. + Assessment and management of manufacturing variances. + Assess, maintain, and document an adequate controls environment for accounting and reporting. + Support the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes for supply chain groups by partnering with the appropriate department and functional leaders. + Develop and implement annual standard costs to accurately value and report the organization’s inventory position. + Support corporate accounting and reporting activities as needed. 60% Process Improvement + Review current policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement efforts. + Lead and/or contribute to improved and consistent accounting processes and methodologies. + Identify and collaborate with the site leadership to implement cost savings initiatives. + Implement automated tools and reporting, where possible, driving accountability and process improvements 10% Compliance + Monitor compliance with internal controls/SOX processes and consults with internal and external auditors. 10% Communication & Collaboration + Establish and maintain effective cross functional relationships and participate on cross-functional project teams providing financial support and analysis. + Collaborate with employees in the establishment of clear and concise development plans to ensure succession planning and the advancement of future leaders within the organization. + Assist in the implementation of activities against which performance is tracked and measured. 20% Education & Experience + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years management experience. + CMA, CPA, and/or MBA Preferred. + Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience; cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
