Plant Controller
Description We are looking for an experienced Plant Controller to take charge of financial operations at our manufacturing facility in Kalkaska, Michigan. This role is crucial in ensuring financial accuracy, driving cost efficiency, and providing strategic insights to support operational goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage financial systems and processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Responsibilities: • Oversee all plant accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, inventory control, and cost accounting. • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and relevant financial regulations. • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely reporting. • Develop and manage the plant's annual budget and periodic financial forecasts, providing detailed variance analysis for key metrics. • Analyze cost drivers and operational trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. • Optimize financial reporting and operational visibility through efficient use of Microsoft Dynamics systems. • Collaborate with plant leadership to align financial strategies with operational objectives and support decision-making processes. • Act as the primary liaison between plant operations and corporate finance teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment. • Supervise and mentor direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and growth. • Provide actionable financial insights for areas such as capital investments, pricing strategies, and production planning. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; advanced certifications such as CPA or CMA are preferred. • At least 5 years of experience in financial or cost accounting roles, ideally within a manufacturing setting. • Proven ability to manage and develop small teams, with a focus on coaching and leadership. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) or equivalent ERP systems. • Strong expertise in cost accounting principles and inventory management. • Exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and financial modeling. • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills with a focus on actionable insights. • Effective communication skills to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders and build cross-functional relationships.
