Position Summary The Plant Accountant II is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting and financial control within the plant. This role plays a critical part in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, payroll administration, and compliance, partnering closely with plant leadership and corporate finance teams to support plant operations and financial objectives. Responsibilities + Lead and oversee the auditing of physical inventories and establish inventory control procedures to maintain accurate inventory analysis and reconciliations. + Manage fixed asset inventory records and control procedures for plant assets, including accounting for obsolete and salvageable materials. + Monitor production by-products and disposal processes; collaborate with vendors on quality issues and manage claims as appropriate. + Develop and implement cost reduction programs for supply items. + Manage general accounting transactions, including petty cash, accounts payable invoicing, and inventory controls in coordination with divisional accounting. + Prepare and submit required financial reports to divisional and corporate accounting on a timely basis (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually). + Provide plant management with financial and statistical information to support operational control and decision-making. + Develop and administer plant budgets in collaboration with plant personnel. + Analyze and present plant financial conditions and statements, providing actionable recommendations to management. + Participate in plant planning and policymaking as a key member of the plant management team. + Analyze process flows and material usage to identify and resolve inventory issues. + Resolve payroll-related problems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with wage and hour laws. + Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements at the plant level. Required Qualifications + University degree in Accounting or related field. + Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cost or general accounting within a manufacturing environment. + Experience managing plant property assets and related accounting procedures. + Thorough understanding of general accounting, accounts payable, petty cash, and cost accounting principles. + Detailed knowledge of payroll systems and compliance with wage and hour laws. + Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments. Preferred Qualifications + Strong knowledge of plant accounting processes and their integration within divisional and corporate structures. + Ability to analyze financial statements and identify potential issues or opportunities. + Understanding of Lean manufacturing processes to ensure accurate cost allocation and expenditure tracking. + Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in a manufacturing setting. + Familiarity with corporate ERP and accounting systems. + Demonstrated ability to develop and implement cost reduction initiatives. + Initiative-taking critical thinking skills and diligence.
