JOB SUMMARY + The Planning Manager is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the planning department as it relates to supply planning and production scheduling. Planning Manager will oversee the overall performance of the department including, and not limited to, Customer Delivery (On time to Request & On Time to Promise), Inventory management, and operations efficiency against SIOP requirements. + The Planning Manager will collaborate closely with purchasing and materials management teams to support supply chain operations objectives and drive improvement initiatives. + The Planning Manager is responsible for analyzing, planning, and managing the flow of materials to ensure they are provided according to schedule. The Planning Manager develops and implements strategies to keep inventory at a minimum without compromising customer expectations. SUPERVISES + Supervises employees and contract labor within the planning department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES + Staff, supervise, train, evaluate and motivate employees in the Planning department to accomplish department/company goals and objectives. Monitor staff size, skill sets, employee performance and job assignments in support of current business requirements. Take direct and timely action when necessary. + Support new product development activities + Ensure contract delivery dates are met and past due orders are resolved promptly. Maintain synchronization between contract delivery requirements as represented by the customer backlog, and the overall production plan. Keep schedules accurate and current. Ensure customer backlog is properly updated with accurate dates, comments to support shipping products out the door, and other information necessary to systemically improve the ability to meet customer needs over time. + Ensure required documentation and system transactions are executed on time to allocate, purchase, and schedule materials as required. + Identify material risks proactively and drive resolutions with purchasing. + Implement best materials planning practices and continuously evaluate process improvement opportunities. + Ensure planning department maintains timely communication with other departments for schedule changes. + Coordinate with other supply chain/operations function to provide data for corporate KPIs. + Support SIOP activities, initiatives with the Aerospace Group, and Parker tools used to support customer and business performance + Ensure all planners are assigned appropriate projects and product groups to support customers and business initiatives + Ensure shortest possible turnaround of customer returns. + Develop, maintain, and update department policies and procedures. + Perform other tasks as assigned. + Support management of inventory, management of incoming receipts, management of WIP/FG, and executing actions to clear all aging and past due material orders. + Works closely with procurement to ensure reorder processes and timely delivery of materials are in place. + Administers the development and implementation of an aggressive inventory reduction program limiting the Divisions exposure to excess inventory cost. + Adjust inventory levels associated with any backlog production. + Analyzes production requirements based on immediate sales orders and short/medium term forecast considering production resources (people, materials, equipment). + Works with Division management to determine within single or multi-plant production facilities the most cost-efficient utilization of production resources for on time delivery and minimization overall cost. + Develops scheduling to establish sequence and lead times of manufacturing operations. Requires scheduling in weekly, monthly or longer production cycles. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES + May be required to assist in other areas of department. + May assist other departments in preparing program schedules. + May have interaction with customers and suppliers. Some travel may be required. + Perform building security code out or weekend security as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE + Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university equivalent; and 7 to 10 years of materials planning, supply chain, operations management, or related experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment desired. + Minimum 5 to 7 years of supervisory experience is required (indirect included).
