Job Description
The Production Planner is responsible for capacity planning, production planning, material availability, and production scheduling to support customer needs. This role involves collaborating with various departments to oversee daily production operations, ensure supply chain efficiencies, and monitor timelines.
ResponsibilitiesSchedule production lines to meet changing monthly forecasts while managing inventory levels and schedules. Adjust production schedules according to current and emerging requirements.Review and action order release and exception messages generated.Create and maintain weekly production schedules utilizing tools and systems such as MTMs and Excel, considering inventory availability and customer service prioritization requests.Collaborate with production managers to ensure optimum productivity and timely completion of orders.Coordinate production workflow for multiple products, planning and prioritizing operations to guarantee maximum performance with reduced delays.Determine raw materials needed to cover production demand.Ensure availability of engineering data to support the build schedule.Support the resolution of issues such as shortages and production delays that may influence on-time delivery.Develop a daily and weekly monitoring and reporting process to aid in effective decision-making, including production versus plan, starts versus target, and product shortages.Complete status reports and data analysis to review and evaluate production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory.Provide support to Contracts with lead-time information to enable appropriate handling of customer inquiries.Follow through with all departments to expedite the flow of material and documents to meet production schedules and customer expectations.Interact with shop floor management daily to determine progress of work and resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies.Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls, making recommendations for improvements in areas of processes and productivity.Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work, completion dates, inventory levels, and solve production problems.Support the monthly SIOP process with production and demand data.Essential SkillsGood understanding of production operations, Quality System Procedures, and SOPs.Practical experience in production planning, production materials, forecasting, and inventory.Proficiency with MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning)/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) tools.Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, including MS Excel.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong data analysis and ERP subject matter expertise.Experience and knowledge of manufacturing supply-chain, planning, and Lean methodology.Good level of IT understanding, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Experience in inventory and material control within a manufacturing environment is a must-have.Excellent relationship building and communication skills.Attention to detail with a methodical and logical analytical approach.Work Environment
The position is based onsite at the Rochester plant, with a hybrid work model of 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, alternating. Flexible start times are available between 6 AM and 8:30 AM, with the requirement for flexibility in international supplier interactions, which account for 75% of interactions. The work environment involves collaboration with a team overseen by the Supply Chain Manager, including 5-6 buyers, 4 production planners, and inventory, warehouse, and shipping teams.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.50/hr.
