Position SummaryThe Planner is responsible for developing comprehensive planning strategies and solutions for commercial real estate projects. This role involves analyzing market conditions, zoning regulations, and development opportunities to create optimal land use and space planning recommendations that align with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlanning & AnalysisConduct site analysis and feasibility studies for development projectsAnalyze zoning codes, land use regulations, and municipal planning requirementsPrepare planning reports, presentations, and recommendationsResearch demographic, economic, and market data to inform planning decisionsEvaluate development scenarios and alternativesProject CoordinationCollaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants on project planningCoordinate with municipal planning departments and regulatory agenciesSupport entitlement processes including rezoning, variances, and permitsManage project timelines and deliverables for planning phasesClient & Stakeholder EngagementPresent planning concepts and recommendations to clients and stakeholdersParticipate in public meetings and community engagement sessionsCommunicate planning strategies to multidisciplinary project teamsBuild relationships with local planning officials and community groupsDocumentation & CompliancePrepare planning applications and supporting documentationEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal planning regulationsMaintain project files and planning documentationMonitor regulatory changes affecting development projectsRequired QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture, or related fieldExperience with commercial real estate or development projects preferredTechnical SkillsProficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS)Knowledge of planning software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite)Strong analytical and research skillsUnderstanding of zoning codes and land use regulationsCore CompetenciesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detail and accuracyProject management capabilitiesProblem-solving and critical thinkingAbility to work collaboratively in team environmentsPreferred QualificationsAICP certification or progress toward certificationMaster's degree in Urban Planning or related fieldExperience with public sector planning processesKnowledge of environmental planning and sustainability practicesFamiliarity with real estate development financePhysical RequirementsOccasional travel to project sites and client meetingsAbility to work in office and field environmentsStandard office work conditionsLocation:
