More About the Role As a Plan for Better Manager, you’ll work closely with our group CR&S (Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability) team, with dedicated focus on Argos GM business to shape long‑term sustainability strategies that positively impact our customers, suppliers and the wider business. You’ll ensure policies, guidance and updates are aligned, well‑governed and clearly communicated, while supporting suppliers with the right training, tools and third‑party relationships to meet our standards. You’ll lead the annual planning cycle for sustainability and environmental improvement across the business, coordinating cross‑functional workstreams and strengthening our reporting, governance and KPI frameworks. A key part of your role will be driving clarity and standardisation ensuring category level plans support the overarching strategy and are forward‑looking, meaningful and measurable. You’ll coach colleagues, influence senior stakeholders and embed a consistent, high‑quality approach to sustainability across the business. More About You You bring strong General Merchandise experience and have a proven ability to influence at all levels and project manage initiatives. You’re confident analysing data, managing governance structures, leading change and supporting others through coaching and collaboration.
Desirable experience includes managing teams, direct reports and a range of stakeholders, supported by certified project management training at foundation or practitioner level. Knowledge of ESG reporting standards such as GRI, SASB and IFRS/ISSB, along with an understanding of the 2025 ESG reporting requirements and CSRD compliance, would also be beneficial. Experience gained within general merchandise or electrical manufacturing environments particularly leading environmental projects or improvement initiatives.
Essential Criteria
Strong GM/electricals expertise with experience shaping ESG strategies and frameworks aligned to business goals.Proven project and change management capability, leading multi‑stakeholder programmes and delivering high‑quality outputs at pace.Skilled in building and managing reporting, governance and KPI frameworks, including ESG metrics, targets and annual reporting.Strong communication, influencing and coaching skills, with the ability to work effectively across senior and cross‑functional teams.Experienced in managing and validating ESG data, including compliance with CSRD and other reporting standards.Solid understanding of emerging ESG regulations, environmental initiatives (energy, emissions, waste), and sustainability best practices.
