Piping Designer
Job Title: Advanced Pipe DesignerJob Description This role involves supporting the Piping Department in enhancing safety and implementing continual improvements in existing chemical processes. The position includes providing detailed PIDs, layouts, 3D modeling, and piping isometrics to facilitate plant activities and maintain accurate records of plant drawings. Responsibilities + Scribe marks from process engineers using ACAD and PDF editors like Bluebeam. + Verify PIDs against Process Flow Diagrams and confirm pipe specifications. + Add line numbers, tie-in numbers, and specialty item numbers according to company standards. + Layout and conduct studies to optimize access and ergonomics of new equipment. + Update scaled drawings using ACAD and create 2D layouts from 3D models. + Survey existing field conditions and optimize routing of new pipelines using sound engineering practices. + Model piping and create ISOs using AutoCAD Plant 3D software. + Build plant 3D models to produce extracted isometrics and conduct Navisworks model reviews. + Use model reviews to refine piping design to meet plant expectations. + Execute and manipulate 3D laser scans for interference clash detection. + Create line lists, hold lists, and tie-in lists using company templates in Microsoft Excel. + Create material take-offs from models, sketches, and isometrics. + Perform design checking for completeness and correctness, including 3D models, isometrics, instrumentation specs, PIDs, structural elevations, etc. Essential Skills + Strong grasp of pipe specifications and materials. + Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks. + Field work experience in an active chemical plant or processing industry. + Ability to gather field dimensions, perform PID as-building, and walk down PIDs to determine tie-in locations. + Team social skills to collaborate with other disciplines and plant personnel. + Job experience in a manufacturing plant with major piping. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Minimum of 2 years of college or high school graduate with 5 years of pipe design experience. + Ability to customize AutoCAD components is a bonus. + Prefer experience with AutoCAD Vault; ProjectWise also adequate. + Experience with Bluebeam and Leica software is advantageous. Work Environment The work is performed on-site in a cubical setting with a team of other piping designers, providing a collaborative and supportive environment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
